The Toronto Islands, a chain of islands in Lake Ontario, just south of Canada's largest city, are a popular attraction for both locals and tourists. With it's idyllic beaches, sprawling parklands, and quiet nooks, the islands provide a convenient refuge for those seeking a mediative escape from the frantic bustle of the city. The islands are also home to the largest urban car-free community in North America, comprised of 262 homes and around 600 closely knit permanent residents.

This project, an ongoing documentation of the Toronto Island, aims to capture the spirit of the island anomaly and the significance the community and landscape has in bridging conflicting rural and the urban worlds.

Images from the project were displayed at the S. Walter Stewart Library in October of 2015 as part of the Toronto Public Library Exhibits Program, and a photo book was produced, available via Blurb.
